Endicott Soil Vapor Project - Endicott, New York

A large industrial facility used certain VOC’s as solvents, which entered the groundwater from leaks and spills at its former Endicott, New York facility.  As part of a NYS DEC required remediation plan, soil vapors were identified as moving through the soil into the basements of buildings near the former industrial facility.  A remediation plan was developed for the 300 acre site and ventilation systems were offered to 425 properties.  Working with O’Brien and Gere Engineers, ENVIRO TESTING helped design those systems.  ENVIRO TESTING construction crews installed subslab ventilation systems in 352 buildings as described below:

New York Soil Vapor Project - Hillcrest, New York

An underground plume of industrial solvents from a yet to be identified responsible party is causing vapor intrusion problems in residential neighborhoods in Hillcrest, New York. ENVIRO TESTING was contracted by URS Engineers to install subslab and submembrane ventilation systems in approximately 136 residential and commercial structures in that community.  ENVIRO TESTING has successfully completed installing those systems and is now in the maintenance phase of the project.

 

G. Willikers Soil Vapor Mitigation Project

Soil and groundwater contamination from chlorinated solvents use at a former manufacturing building in Norwich, New York had resulted in soil vapor intrusion problems on site.  The site is currently utilized by a children’s clothing manufacturer.  The 28,000 sq. ft. facility, of which 50% is wood floor on grade, poised difficult design problems due to coal fly ash subbase below the wood floor sections of the building.  ENVIRO TESTING, with the help of NYS DEC Region 7 Engineers, designed and installed special geo-textile flooring covering 11,000 sq. ft. of the facility.  This flooring provided a barrier to vapors and coal fly ash and also allowed for heavy vehicle usage.  Six multi-point sub-membrane and sub-slab depressurization systems were installed during normal business hours and resulted in no lost work time for the manufacturer.

 

Winatic Corporation Soil Vapor Project

This Vestal, New York project site is currently a vacant manufacturing site and was formerly occupied by Winatic’s 16,000 sq. ft. Coil and Electro Magnet manufacturing plant.  Trichlorethane (TCE) used in the manufacturing process was discarded onto the ground surface resulting in soil vapor intrusion.  Working with NYS DEC Engineers, ENVIRO TESTING designed and installed four multi-suction point ventilation systems to correct the problem.

 

New York Soil Vapor Project - Norwich, New York

An underground plume of solvents from a yet to be identified responsible party is causing vapor intrusion problems in this residential/commercial neighborhood.  ENVIRO TESTING developed a remediation plan which includes issues concerning asbestos contaminated soil, crawl spaces and installation of new concrete basement floors.  Subslab and submembrane ventilation systems were installed in over 73 structures.  ENVIRO TESTING is now in the maintenance phase of the project.

 

Soil Vapor Project - Amsterdam, New York

TCE soil vapors have been discovered impacting a 69,550 sq. ft. industrial building in Amsterdam, NY.  Working with RETEC Engineers, ENVIRO TESTING has successfully completed the design and installation of subslab ventilation systems at this facility to correct the vapor intrusion problem.

 

Amphenol Aerospace Soil Vapor Project

Previous work operations at this Sidney, New York industrial manufacturing site resulted in vapor intrusion problems at ten nearby residences.  ENVIRO TESTING designed and installed multi-point SSDS at each residence.  Asbestos, dirt floor basements and crawl spaces were addressed as part of the SSDS process.

 

Fine Host Soil Vapor Project

An upgrade manufacturing plant using TCE in its manufacturing processes resulted in soil vapor intrusion at this 14,000 sq. ft. commercial property located in Vestal, New York. Two multiple suction point sub-slab depressurization systems were successfully designed and installed by ENVIRO TESTING under the auspices of the NYS DEC.

 

Endicott Area Wide Soil Vapor Project - Endicott, New York

An underground plume of solvents from a yet to be identified party caused vapor intrusion problems in multiple commercial buildings, churches, multi-family and residential structures in Endicott, New York.  ENVIRO TESTING, working with Ecology and Environment Engineers, designed and is currently installing multiple sub-slab depressurization systems.

 

American Cleaners Soil Vapor Project

Past operations at a dry cleaners site resulted in soil vapor intrusion at an adjacent property in Binghamton, New York.  Asbestos, inaccessible crawl space and a crumbling basement concrete floor needed to be addressed along with installation of a sub-slab depressurization system.  ENVIRO TESTING successfully designed and installed a new concrete basement floor, sealed and vented the crawl space and installed a multi-point sub-slab depressurization system.

 

Ashland Chemical Soil Vapor Project

Past operation at the Ashland Oil Storage facility in Binghamton, NY resulted in vapor intrusion problems at four nearby residential properties.  Working with URS Engineers, ENVIRO TESTING successfully designed and installed multi-point sub-slab/membrane ventilation systems in each residence and is now in the maintenance phase of the project.

 

Binghamton Plaza Soil Vapor Project

Methane gas seepage from a previous landfill site is causing soil gas issues at several commercial buildings and a day care center.  Working with Brickhouse Environmental Consulting, ENVIRO TESTING has designed and is installing multi-point sub-slab depressurization systems at this site.

 

Radon Gas Mitigation

ENVIRO TESTING has been performing radon soil gas mitigation for approximately 18 years and has corrected over 5,000 structures with a 100% success rate.
